KWIDE is a unique program at Bucknell University that challenges students to develop innovative solutions to pressing social issues. During my second year, I participated in this 1.5 week intensive program, where my team and I worked on a project focused on improving the lives of farm workers in developing countries. The rigorous program taught us creative brainstorming techniques and a growth mindset to approach complex problems.
Our project aimed to address the serious health concerns that arise from the strenuous labor required of farm workers, many of whom are children. Given the limited access to quality healthcare in rural areas, this is a critical issue that requires urgent attention. Our team developed a device that would help alleviate the physical toll of farm work by reducing the amount of manual labor required. We presented our prototype and pitch to a panel of judges at the end of the program. Check out the presentation to see what we accomplished.
